To hear this sound file, you must have the free ToolVox Player Plugin configured into your web browser. ToolVox is the best way to put highly-compressed streaming speech recordings on our web pages. The player is available for several platforms, but if you have Windows or a Mac, go ahead and download it so you can make use of more exciting messages from Beta Source Inc. and its Independent Representatives.

More instructions on how to set up the ToolVox Player:

  1. Bookmark this Beta Source page.
  2. Download the appropriate ToolVox player (Windows 3.x, Windows 95/NT or Macintosh) for your system. Since the ToolVox player is free just fill in the minimum information required on the Voxware form page.
  3. Exit your browser; navigate to the directory where you downloaded ToolVox and doubleclick on the self-extracting zip file to install it.
  4. Restart your browser and go to the page bookmarked at step 1 (above).
  5. If necessary, manually add ToolVox to your browser's list of "Helper" applets (see below)...
  6. Enjoy the recording and learn as much as you can.

ADDING TOOLVOX TO YOUR HELPER APPS MANUALLY (IF NECESSARY):

Netscape Navigator

If you are using Netscape Navigator 2.0 or greater, the installation program will automatically set up the ToolVox Player as a plug-in. If you use another browser, you must set up the ToolVox Player as a helper application. (Even if you have Netscape Navigator 2.0+, you should set up the ToolVox Player as a helper application, in case you access Web pages that are not optimized for Netscape.)

If you are using Netscape Navigator Gold and/or Windows NT, follow these steps:
  1. Access the directory where the ToolVox files reside.
  2. Copy the file named NPnnVOX.DLL into the plug-ins subdirectory of Netscape (nn in the filename is 16 or 32, depending on your operating system). For example: C:\NAVGOLD\PROGRAM\PLUGINS.
  3. Copy all of the other DLLs (except NPnnVOX.DLL) into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
  4. If you use Netscape Navigator Gold and Windows 3.1, copy RT32VOX.VXD into the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory also.
To check if the Player is set up as a plug-in correctly:
  1. Start Netscape Navigator 2.0+.
  2. In the Location field (where you usually see URLs), type about:plugins.
  3. Verify that audio/voxware is displayed.
To test if the plug-in was set up properly, start your browser and follow your bookmark back to the web site with the VOX file from which you got to this page.

If you are not using Netscape Navigator 2.0, you must set up the ToolVox Player as a helper application. If necessary, refer to your browser's online Help or Web site for more information.

Internet Explorer

What you will need to do is manually configure ToolVox as a plugin to MSIE. To configure it manually, please do the following:
  1. Make sure that you are running the latest MSIE 3.0 release.
  2. Download the latest version of the ToolVox player from the download page at http://www.voxware.com/cgi-bin/download.cgi.
  3. Exit MSIE and install the software.
  4. The ToolVox installation procedure should copy the NP32VOX.DLL file into the MSIE plugins directory. If not, copy the file NP32VOX.DLL from: C:\Program Files\Voxware Programs\ to C:\Program Files\Plus!\Microsoft Internet\Plugins\
  5. Restart Internet Explorer and go to the web page with the VOX file from which you got to this page.
